2008). Some people mistakenly believe that the use of ethanol has driven up corn prices because corn is used in the process. In effect, food prices have soared only because
of energy prices and not due to the demand for corn ("RFA Resource Center - Ethanol Facts," 2008). Trucks that ship food must compensate for the increased fuel charges. The
increase in gasoline has impacted every facet of the economy because America relies on trucks and airplanes for a good deal of its transportation. It seems that at the very
least, ethanol is good for the American pocketbook. But is it good for the environment? Are there drawbacks to using it? As with anything, there is a positive and negative
side, but when it comes to ethanol there are a slew of reasons why it should be used. A special interest group in this area praises the use of this
