acceptable to todays society. In years past, there was no issue of decency in the workplace. The workplace or the office or the store, depending on the nomenclature
that was in common use at the time, was a place where individuals were held to higher moral standards than were expected of them during their daily interactions with family
and friends. People demonstrated impeccable manners during the course of their work hours. Interaction with fellow employees and clients or customers included acts of appreciations and common terms such
as please and thank you. People in professions where they interacted with the public dressed up to go to work. Men wore suits and ties and in some
corporations, were expected to wear a hat. Women - who at the time were primarily sales clerks, receptionist and secretaries - wore suitable dresses or womens business suits.
Americans fascination with the advances in technology, and the fast pace of todays life, has taken a toll on decency in the workplace.
The general public is demonstrating indecent behavior in the form of road rage, large music echoing from passing cars, loud and intrusive cell phone conversations and unacceptable poor behavior of
men and women in public places. This increasing informality is also present in the business world and it is straining business relationships. Corporate Scandals
