sequel to the original film. Discussion Erin Brockovich, Private Eye, opens several months after the original film ends. Erin has been congratulated and made to feel extremely important for her
role in the PG&E case, but that admiration hasnt translated into a raise, or into more interesting work. In other words, despite her success, she hasnt advanced at all. Erin
decides its time to move on, and she opens her own detective agency. Cases are hard to find, despite the fact that shes "the famous Eric Brockovich," and she finds
that a lot of people come just to stare at her, or to meet her and give her their best wishes. She appreciates it, but its draining. Finally, when shes
beginning to think she might have to go back to the law firm, she gets a real case: a middle-aged man, George Caspar, comes in and tells her he thinks
his dog has been kidnapped. He expects Endicott (which is the dogs name) to be held for ransom, but theres been no demand. Hes frantic with worry and asks Erin
to find the dog, negotiate with the kidnappers, or both. Erin agrees. She sets up surveillance in his home, including putting a wiretap on his phone, and settles down to
wait, telling him there is nothing else anyone can do. He almost says But youre Erin Brockovich, you can do anything! But he keeps his mouth shut. The film shows
us various scenes of the man and Endicott playing together emphasizing the fact that he loves Endicott very much. After nearly 24 hours, the phone rings: its them! They want
$2 million in cash or Endicott has had it! Caspar pleads with them that he hasnt got it and has no way of getting it, and please not to hurt
