is a valid concern. Have things changed for women? Are women really equal today? At first glance, one might say yes, women are equal because they now command high
positions in corporate America and they are filling political positions around the nation. Rising political stars like Condoleeza Rice and Hillary Clinton have walked in the paths of older more
seasoned women like Madeline Albright and Sandra Day OConnor. Within government, women have filled high positions. In the board room, while males admittedly outnumber females, the proverbial glass ceiling has
cracked at least to some extent. Women are finding their way through the corporate maze and today, many females even earn more than their husband who were generally thought as
the traditional bread winners. At the crux of these essays is a question that goes to equality. Are men and women now equal in the world? It is a
difficult question to answer. It is true that many studies point to the fact that women not only work, but they also take on most of the responsibilities for child
care and housework. The traditional female categories are still being claimed by women. To some extent, men are participating in housework and childcare as today, it is not quite so
embarrassing as it was in past years. Men are expected to change a diaper, give the baby a bath and take the children to the doctor once in awhile. The
problem with this situation is that even though things have changed somewhat, men are still largely found in their traditional roles. The patriarchal family model is still at the core
