A 4 page research paper that discusses the pivotal role of epiphany in countering racism and injustice. In today's multicultural, politically aware and correct society, efforts abound to instruct children, young people, and the populace in general in regards to the fundamental nature of our common humanity and decrease the incidence of racial hatred and bigotry. While these efforts are well-intentioned and may be effective to some degree, human experience shows that in order for many bigoted individuals to change their orientation, they must first experience an epiphany of understanding that goes to the core of their being. In this regard, the writer examines two movies: Crash and Romero. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

an altogether new person, henceforth known as Paul the Apostle. In his "Letter from a Birmingham Jail," Martin Luther King, Jr. addressed a published statement authored by eight of his
fellow clergymen, which criticized him for his political activism (King). His response is reasoned, logical and compelling, but it probably did not sway his opponents from their position unless it
ignited in their minds the light of an epiphany of understanding. A 2005 film which won wide acclaim, Crash, largely concerns how epiphanies can dramatically alter perception in regards
to race, ethnicity, and other issues of justice, as several life-altering epiphanies occur within this film. The movie encompasses several plot lines, but in each instance, racism, hatred and ethnic
