today. There are those who argue that the long practiced deforestation of the rain forests is largely to blame. There are those who argue that the powerful industrial growth seen
in China is to blame as the pollution travels the world. Some would say that overpopulation is the cause of a great deal of the environments problems and others who
would perhaps argue that cars and energy consumption are the main culprits. In truth the powerful threats to the environment are all clearly responsible. But, if one threat had to
be chosen, as the most damaging to the environment, one could well argue that water needs are the main culprit. The following paper examines how and why water use and
needs can be considered the biggest threat to the environment. Environmental Threat First and foremost there is the problem of water use that can be connected to overpopulation
in the world, and especially in places such as the United States. In the United States much of the water is used for commercial agriculture and in many cases it
is brought in from the outlying areas of a particular city. There is the over-consumption of water by people in watering lawns and just doing daily things such as showering,
washing dishes, and washing clothes. There are many places in the world, or many people, who would argue that the United States, and the Western world, is greedy in even
using water for flushing toilets for that is a waste of a precious resource. But, it could also be claimed that such daily practices do not even begin to compare
