Environmental science embraces biology, chemistry, geology and even other disciplines like physics. Its fundamental principles revolve around the very simple fact that all things are
related. In one element of our environment is disturbed or changed in some way, that change almost without exception will affect another element.
Ecology is a very complex interaction of many elements. Consider, for example, a typical river system. It is home to all sorts of organisms, both plants
and animals. Those plants and animals live in certain niches in the river and its surrounding lands in accordance with factors such as hydrology and even geology. When
