several pieces of legislation designed to enforce environmentally sound regulation. For example, it has made use of several laws-- The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Superfund, and the Toxic Substances
Control Act-to regulate drinking water in the country. The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) was implemented in 1976 and it is an act which gives EPA the
right to control hazardous waste ("Resource Conservation and Recovery Act," 2007). This includes the creation of storage facilities, treatment facilities, transportation and things of that nature ("Resource Conservation and Recovery
Act," 2007). Ten years later, RCRA would be amended to address more environmental dilemmas which resulted from pollution from underground storage tanks ("Resource Conservation and Recovery Act," 2007). One problem
is that RCRA is focused on future sites, or current sites, but does not address older, historical sites ("Resource Conservation and Recovery Act," 2007). This law includes a variety of
mandates such as those pertaining to the clean up of hazardous waste material and an underground storage facility ("Resource Conservation and Recovery Act," 2007). Also, the Superfund aligned with EPA
is something that has attempted to provide support for various efforts to improve the environment. In 1980, there had been concern over the fact that chemicals have over the years
been dumped at sites and have been abandoned ("About Superfund," 2007). In other words, in the past, there was little known about pollution and so, businesses would dump chemicals and
