anyway? After all, they are obligated to shareholders and that obligation begins and ends with profitability. But of course, no corporation can turn a blind eye to ethics. Loehr &
Schwartz (2003) observe: "The corporate body has a strong or weak spiritual pulse reflecting its capacity for honesty, integrity, commitment and conviction" (p. 204). There is a sense that ethics
are important in the business world. In part, this is attributable to the fact that public relations are important, but also, attention to ethics is simply the right thing to
do. This is true for any industry and also when a variety of issues are in the picture. A student asks for an explanation as to how society should deal
with economic growth as it may have a negative effect on the environment. Many people are concerned about future generations. Will the environment be degraded to the point where future
generations are harmed? The responsibility of corporations cannot be underestimated. After all, corporations create the products that people use, and they are by and large responsible for the majority of
