challenging. But white collar crime is not trivial; it has cost more than most criminal activities in recent years, and those who lost their jobs and their pensions in the
Enron scandal or the WorldCom collapse can readily testify to the fact that white collar crime does a great deal of harm. Most people also believe that white collar crime
"is a less punishable offense, then for example a mugging where violence is threatened. However, white collar crimes like embezzlement, the stealing of company funds, may ultimately harm more people"
(Ellis-Christensen, 2009). Someone who absconds with the money people need to live on does far more harm that a mugger, but it is the mugger who will get the stiffer
