With the nation founded on so many ethnicities and cultures, and with the nation constantly growing with more and more cultures, it seems that many argue English should be official to help the nation remain cohesive and others argue in favor of the diversity the nation is known for, thus arguing against English as becoming officially the language of the nation. The following paper argues that English should not be the official language of the United States. English an Official Language in the U.S.: No One reason a person could argue against English as an official language involves discrimination. The nation is filled with people from all over the world and to insist that only English be used for forms and applications, and to insist that things only be written in English, would be a very powerful form of discrimination. This discrimination would also clearly involve a great number of people who are from overseas, who spend their money in this nation, as they educate their people. There are many foreign students in the nation whose presence truly adds to the richness and wealth of the nation and to discriminate against them would do ultimate damage to the United States. If a person were to only have the English language in all forms, applicatons, and other official paperwork, this would likely also cost the nation a great deal of money for these people would need further help to know their rights. They would require interpreters, would need special counselors and assistants that would likely be funded by the state of federal government.
