in order for true communication to take place. Interestingly enough, America seems to be the one controlling the fact that it is more often than not the English language is
the language of choice, despite the fact that the United States has no official language. As would be expected there are also problems associated with such a global language, problems
such as linguistic death. The following paper examines English as a global language, then examining the pros and cons of such a reality. The paper then discusses the world today
in relationship to the ease in which people communicate all over the world. English as a Global Language The student requesting this paper indicates that U.S. Representative John
Lewis stated in the early 1990s that, "America is inextricably linked to the rest of the world as part of a global community." While this may not have been the
case over a hundred years ago, today it is a very powerful truth for many reasons. It is the United States that seems to have a relationship, be it good
or bad, with almost every, if not every, country in the world. Many nations come to the United States for one form of aid or another. More than any other
nation the United States involves itself in the affairs of other countries to some extent. In Third world countries the United States has become heavily involved in international business endeavors.
For example, in Malaysia the United States has many companies with whom they work to provide work for the Malaysians and cheaper production for the United States. In other parts
of Asia the United States is similarly involved, with larger nations seeking products from the United States as well. In the Middle East, aside from warfare at present times, the
