on our patio, feeling at peace and anticipating the beauty of the approaching sunset. It was at that moment that I noticed a sleek, black cat come out of the
woods that border the yard. It looked like a bit of night, made manifest and mobile. It slunk across the edge of the yard, muscles tense, body crouched low, obviously
stalking some prey. I coughed, inadvertently, and realized that this noise would probably scare the cat into fleeing since it seemed to be wild. The cat looked in my direction
at the noise, but rather than running away, its whole demeanor changed. Its ears perked up and it abandoned its hunting stance, as it began walking straight towards me.
I really did not believe my eyes and looked around to see if the cat had another objective in mind. It did not. It slipped easily through the fence surrounding
the patio, jumped straight into my lap, placed a paw on each shoulder and stared at me. It said, "Meow," as if asking a question. It repeated its introduction
and then jumped down and went to the door to the house. An instruction had clearly been given. I let it in. The cat moved with grace and purpose
around the living room, checking the place out. Then it moved to the kitchen, I followed. Its silky black body moved against my legs, entwining itself between my
feet and almost tripping me, as it purred loudly. I could feel its powerful muscles and feel the vibration of its purring, as well as hear it. The message was
again crystal clear and I poured out some milk into a dish and started looking for a can of tuna. After the cat had feasted, it went back to the
