a class of drugs that act to inhibit the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II. The result is vasodilation. Enalapril is one of the first ACE inhibitors
to ever be introduced. While Enalapril is a useful drug in the treatment of this condition, it is a drug that can only be administered under very precise criteria
and with a consideration of several relevant facts.
INTRODUCTION Heart failure is one of the most concerning medical problems of the day. Cardiovascular disease is, in fact,
the number one killer worldwide (Turnbull, 2003). The drug Enalapril is used in the treatment of high blood pressure and heart failure. An ACE inhibitor, the drug is
one of the most commonly used drugs in coronary care. It acts by blocking a particular enzyme which acts in the tightening of blood vessels. While Enalapril is
effective in its application, there are a number of concerns with which the health care practitioner should be aware when administering this drug and when monitoring its long-term use in
patients. Enalapril is successfully used to treat a significant percentage of those individuals suffering from hypertension as well as in other cardiovascular applications. Its use, however, should go
