are hotter and longer, and winters are devastatingly frigid. Many people have lost their lives over the past few years because of the length and ferocity of some winter
storms, while others have succumbed to heat exhaustion merely by doing everyday tasks. Human health is not the only concern as arctic ice caps are melting at this very
moment, and polar bears are finding themselves either stranded on ice flows or unable to reach food supplies. Spawned from the number one reason is number two: lead poisoning
in children. Because of the increasingly dryer climate in some urban regions, lead paint fibers that have long since taken up residency in the otherwise moist soil (Bates et
al, 2008) are blown throughout the community and inevitably inhaled by unsuspecting children. Lead poisoning is responsible for causing neurological problems, development problems and behavioral disorders (Laidlaw et al,
2005; PCCY, 2006). The third, also caused by climate change, relates to the dangerous rise in sea levels across the globe that has the propensity to continue increasing the
rate and power of tropical cyclones that threaten coastal regions. Low-relief, very low-lying places along coastlines around the world could be in danger of being wiped off the face
of the Earth...And now there are more people than ever in harms way (Tibbetts, 2007, p. A202). II. THREE WAYS BEHAVIORAL CHANGE CAN IMPACT ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH 1) Purchase hybrid
cars that use alternative fuel sources so there are fewer emissions released into the air that brings about less destruction of the ozone layer; 2) stop using cars altogether and
take public transit or ride bicycles to significantly cut down on greenhouses gases, the fundamental principle of global warming; and 3) carpool. III. THREE WAYS TO INFLUENCE BEHAVIORAL CHANGE
