they do. This paper briefly explores the relationship between productivity and employee empowerment. Discussion Much to the surprise of most managers, human resources professionals and CEOs, money is not the
main motivation for employees. Studies have repeatedly shown that while its important that people have enough to live on, they really arent terribly interested in making a pile-unless they have
the luck to land in a position that pays extremely well and also gives them a chance to do something they love. The most important thing that brings employees to
work each day is a chance to contribute to the companys success. That is, they enjoy their jobs most if they know that their contributions are making a real difference
in the organizations overall success. Employees want to know that when they make a suggestion, its taken seriously, discussed and if its a good idea, implemented. They want to
feel like theyre part of a team whose goals are clearly understood. They want to feel that that team is working together toward that common goal and that each team
member is equally important. In order for employees to feel this way, they also have to be empowered. "Empower" has become such a business buzzword that its almost a clich?,
but what it means in general is that a person feels that he has control over his own destiny. In a corporate setting, that means that the employee feels he
can make suggestions and offer criticism without facing some sort of retaliation from managers and higher-ups. He is secure in his knowledge of his abilities and in the fact that
others are interested in what he has to say. In short, others respect him, ask his advice, and take his opinions and suggestions seriously, thus making him an integral part
