kill and eat prey, mate with whoever happens along on the side walk and do not wash after dinner. They are not very refined creatures and while people love their
pets, they realize that there is a huge difference between animals and people. It is because of this difference that human life is considered superior to animal life. As much
as people love their dogs and cats and birds, they do eat other animals like hogs and cows and turkeys. Why is it okay to eat animals and not
people? Arguably, it is because man is more intelligent and that comes from something. Men can reason so they can build factories to hoard the cows and they can build
milking machines. People are also endowed with hands and the ability to do things like ride bicycles or fly planes, something that the best trained dog could never do. Some
of this argument is ludicrous. After all, it is silly to discuss the importance of reason. Reason just exists and man has it. At the same time, there is argument
as far as how something is manifest in the mind. How do human beings know things? According to a student, "empiricists claim that nothing is in the mind
that did not come through the senses." Such a claim would suggest that people are little better than cows or pigs, but the reality is that man is an animal
and there is a case to be made for sensory experience. If people could not hear, see, touch, taste and so forth, what would there be to think about? It
is through all of these things that people understand. For example, the color red cannot be described, conjured or created by thinking. It must be experienced by vision. Similarly, how
