ethics and morality. And ethics and morality is a primary building block of civilizations. CIVILIZATIONS DEFINED What is a civilization? Roughly defined, a civilization is a cultural entity
(Huntington, 1993). And a cultural entity consists of villages, regions, ethnic groups, nationalities, and religious groups (Huntington, 1993). European communities have cultural features that separate them from Arab or Chinese
communities. Each of these communities constitutes a separate civilization. The highest cultural grouping of people and the broadest level of cultural identify which people may have which is short
of what distinguishes them from other species is a civilization (Huntington, 1993). Civilizations are defined by common elements such as language, history, customs, and institutions and by religion. People
identify themselves according to different degrees of cultural intensity (Huntington, 1993). For example, as resident of Rome may think of himself as a Roman, an Italian, a Catholic, a
Christian, a European, or a Westerner (Huntington, 1993). There are two major variants to western civilization, European and North American. Islam has it Arab, Turkic and Malay subdivisions (Huntington,
