This is a 5 page paper discussing the essential steps to the writing process. Tutorial language is added throughout the document in square brackets. The elements in regards to the process of writing sound documents are considered to be essentially “prewriting”, “drafting”, “revising”, and “editing”. Some documents and technical reports can also benefit from a more structured outline which could be introduced before or after the prewriting step. Quite often as well, most documents could benefit from an additional proofreading step highly recommended after the editing process. Although each step is important to the entire process of writing regardless of the material needed, most people have personal preferences as to which steps are considered easier, or come more easily to them, and which steps are considerably more difficult.
