for new careers, even fall in love through electronic communication. The intimacy of complete anonymity allows people the opportunities to express themselves, bare their souls, try on other personalities, and
express ideas and attitudes as never before. To only say that it has changed the way the modern world communicates might actually be
an understatement. Today, its possible to send a message - even a document, photograph or video - almost instantaneously, to anyone who has an E-mail address, anywhere in the world.
Time zones, postal systems and costs mean little or nothing, and the technology isnt intrusive like a telephone. In fact, electronic communication is time and distance independent. It even makes
geography a non-issue. In many circumstances, electronic communication has developed into an oddly vibrant community with its own language, social structures and economy. Co-workers who have never physically met
are able to share life stories, as well as work strategies. A man in New Jersey can fall in love with a woman in North Carolina, resulting in marriage
vows, a blended family, and, hopefully, a happy-ever-after. Even an 80-year-old, Lutheran, German grandmother with a passion for bridge can find an entirely new set of friends and card
partners with similar interests without having to leave her house. This is not to suggest that electronic communication has created a world of
