person who lives in the city is an individual who likely enjoys a lot of activity, people, and diversity in entertainment possibilities, eating, and cultures. People who live in rural areas are likely more relaxed, more connected and entertained by nature, and people who do not mind being removed from bustling activities. In light of such truths it would make sense that elderly people who live in rural areas are far more attached to their home, and their environmental location than people who live in cities. People in cities, it would seem, would be happy in any particular city, but people in a rural area become deeply connected to the community and the area. With that in mind the following paper examines the connection that the elderly may have with their home/place in rural areas. Elderly and Attachment to Home/Place in Rural Areas In recent years, with the increase in life expectancy and the increased number of elderly citizens requiring more medical care, the subject of the elderly living in rural areas has come under much study. For the most part it seems that most of the studies relate to the fact that they are not finding good health care within any reasonable distance and many communities are trying to improve this situation. It seems important to spend some time on this aspect of the topic in light of the fact that it demonstrates how determined the elderly are in remaining in their rural areas, even if care is not easily accessible.
