everyone was included in this exclusive club. Some artists--though they tried very hard to be accepted and certainly had talent and credentials--did not make the cut. They were brushed
aside, virtually ignored, and would leave the world with a legacy that might have been something more had their works been recognized. Some say that women were excluded simply due
to the times and the fact that women were not appreciated during the period. Others contend that those who were excluded were simply not good enough. Not everyone can be
a great painter. When reviewing works of art from the era, it is puzzling as to why some artists were revered, and seen as brilliant, while others who seemed to
be equally skilled and talented were not embraced by the art world. What was the difference in terms of the works that they produced? What are the most important factors
which linked the core group and established a high regard for their work? Again, there may be technical reasons and those that go to composition or content. Just as some
artists today are embraced while others struggle, this has always been the case. Not all artists become a part of a movement to the same extent. During the period of
