the culture of ancient Egypt. The most reasonable way to approach the subject seems to be to input search parameters such as "doing business in Egypt" and extrapolate from those
results to a more general consideration of Egyptian men. Egyptian men "tend to be chauvinistic in a society which acknowledges and rewards male domination. That patriarchal system requires the support
and loyalty of all members of the family in return for security and protection. In the absence of a credible social welfare system, supporting the family always comes first in
Egypt" (Egyptian view-point, 1996). Thus, it appears that because there is no such thing as social security or retirement planning, Egyptian men are seen primarily as the support of the
family, and their wives look to them to provide security. As noted, the system would not remain in place if there were serious objections to it, so we must assume
that while some Egyptian women prefer to carve out a career path, most accept the society as it is. We also learn that adults are expected to care
for elderly parents, and that the culture is extremely conservative (Egyptian view-point, 1996). They believe it is their duty to protect women, and that women, in their turn, are
to "make the job of their protection easy on the man" (Egyptian view-point, 1996). This entails such things as dressing and behaving modestly; women who wear revealing attire or behave
inappropriately in public "bring dishonor to their kin and hosts" (Egyptian view-point, 1996). The Egyptian culture is very moral; the crime rate in Cairo is virtually zero (The Egyptian people).
