scholars that Akhenaten, a pharaoh who ruled in the late Eighteen Dynasty, appointed a coregent to rule alongside him in the last years of his life. However, scholars have
long debate the identity of this coregent. Was it the pharaoh queen, Nefertiti, or his son, Tutankhamen, or both? The following examination of this article, first of all, offers a
brief summary of its content, the authors major arguments and the evidence presented to support these arguments, before offering this writer/tutors analysis reactions to the article. It takes Dodson
quite a long time to get around to stating his position, which is that the evidence points to Smenkhkare as Akhenaten, and that he was appointed to this position sometime
during the thirteen year of Akhenatens reign. Dodson holds that it was this man who was married to Meryetaten. (The student researching this topic should note that the fax sent
is extremely fuzzy. I cannot be sure of the spelling of any of these names.) Almost the entirety of the article is required to explain the necessary expository background to
explain this position and why Dodson supports it. This writer/tutor cannot summarize the beginning of Dodsons recounting of the various arguments and evidence that pertain to this position because
the first page of the fax is practically illegible; however, from what I can make out, it appears that evidence pertaining to the identity of Akhenatons coregent has been discovered
off and on since the 1880s. The author describes the various discoveries that have occurred since the late nineteenth century and how these discoveries were interpreted at the time
