the target market in question. The ad shows a young man in a rowboat on a body of water, outfitted for adventure in outdoors clothing and sunglasses, listening to music
on a set of Bose noise cancelling headphones. However, because of the noise cancelling effects of the headphones, he is about to row over the edge of a massive roaring
rapids. The insinuation is that the headphones work so well, they blocked out the deafening roar of the falls. In the modern world of iPods and mobile media devices, more
and more people listen to music or watch movies on the go, with the aid of headphones. This ad speaks to that demographic of young people who are on the
go in diverse environments full of noise, who want to be able to enjoy their music nonetheless. In this ad, the headphones are positioned as a product suited for
the individual who is always on the go, and who does a lot of listening in loud or noisy environments (whether it be the outdoors near a waterfall, or in
a crowded city). The insinuation is also made that the product is for those individuals who care about the quality of their listening products. In general, these traits tend to
fit the characteristics of the young adult market, who are most in tune with the latest technological trends, listen to the most music, travel the most in high-noise environments, and
