face ever-increasing diversity in their schools, they are challenged with preparing students for a technology world, one in which technology seems to change every ten minutes, and these professionals must also help their students learn how to succeed in a global economy. Besides all that, educational leaders are once again faced with accountability issues. That is not to say that they havent always had to be accountable or that they should not be accountable. Accountability as an issue rears itself up every ten or so years. The problem with accountability is that it becomes regulated and must be achieved with empirical evidence, which, in turn, means standardized tests. Preparing for the global economy means gaining skills in technology, gaining knowledge and understanding of other cultures, and having superior knowledge, skills and abilities. Preparing our students for the global economy is so important that the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), first established in 1946, has published numerous books and reports focusing on international understanding (Won-Hee, 2006). The author comments that these materials that could be used to promote more international understanding are not as used as much as they should be (Won-Hee, 2006). The issues educational leaders are faced with today seem to be the same across the globe. Scoppio (2002) reported research regarding trends conducted in the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. This author pointed out that before the 1980s, educational reforms in these three countries focused primarily on equity, i.e., access to higher education, multiculturalism, English as a Second Language, etc (Scoppio, 2002). The focus shifted in the 1990s to standardization, effectiveness, accountability, and testing on one hand and decentralization on the other hand (Scoppio, 2002).
