whether the business is a manufacturing plant or a law firm. Effective communication can take a firm to great heights and similarly, communication barriers can curtail organizational development. In examining
the topic of effective communication in the context of group leadership, it pays to first explore leadership. What is it? II. What is Leadership? Today, the qualities
of leaders are often aligned with the development of vision, particularly as it relates to what organizations can become (Leonard, 1999). Leaders assist the implementation of mission statements, and they
do possess goals far beyond their own life span. They do not simply really their ideas to the underlings. Rather, they energize people to accept and work in reaching
their goals (Leonard, 1999). Leaders do not always implement policy, but they do initiate improvements through changing organizational culture (Leonard, 1999). Leaders do not manage organizations as much as
they try to transform organizations (Leonard, 1999). The climates of businesses have been transformed in recent years so that people are happier in their work environments. Most employees do not
conform to a particular protocol but are essential in creating their own roles. Part of the success of new leadership paradigms is related to the fact that changes are in
