that the educators role is to train the mind of the student to think rationally, so as to better assimilate and assess this vital body of knowledge. While I
perceive the essence of education as consisting of this body of knowledge and skills, which should be passed on for the acquisition and use of learners, I also feel that
it is the role of education to provide students with a passionate encounter with the problems of life, the reality of choice and the inevitability of consequences to their actions.
The educational environment should encourage growth and individuality, rather than dogmatic adherence to preconceived group thinking or norms, but it should do so within a framework of knowledge that the
student utilizes in the process of assessing and acquiring new truths. As this indicates, I favor instructional approaches that cause students to think, question and problem solve, and this
is best stimulated through projects, rather than instructional methods that ask students to simply regurgitate memorized data. Children learn best when they are led by the teacher from practical issues
that leads rationally and logically toward the formation of theoretical principles via the experience of working on problem-solving projects, which is a stance that moves from the concrete toward the
abstract. In summary, schools are responsible for establishing a disciplined atmosphere in which innovative instructional techniques introduce students to the body of knowledge and skills, the reality, that they
