is important to know these assumptions in order to recognize whether or not one truly agrees with the argument or not. In other words, while books may indeed be
better in education than computers, it is also possible that they may not be. The final opinion someone holds is just that - an opinion, based upon the set
of assumptions they believe to be the most correct. As our society grows by leaps and bounds technologically, so too does education
change in response. Classrooms are becoming far more technological than ever before, as they integrate computers and Internet lessons in a variety of different formats. There are those
however who contend that such integration has gone too far, and that the replacement of books by computerized lessons has failed students to some degree rather than helped them.
There are some important assumptions that underscore this belief. For instance, some people believe that the dependability factor makes books a far
better choice in education. More specifically, computers break down, they lose data, they crash, they need tech support - these are all things that books do happily without.
The book is incredibly low-maintenance, never requiring that it be rebooted or upgraded. Books can travel with the individual and are therefore conveniently able to be read nearly anytime
and anywhere. Therefore, from a functional standpoint alone many people believe that books are the better option. Another important assumption
that those with a preference for books make is the fact that computers easy access to a plethora of resources which could be of great concern, especially in the educational
