only does it represent academic knowledge, but it also reflects an inner understanding about the world in which one lives. People speak of "street smarts," a concept that many
believe precludes the ability for one to possess an education, however, being street wise is often a much more comprehensive form of education than that obtained through academic study.
Indeed, these two diverse types of education are defined in two completely different ways, clearly illustrating how education is not exclusive to academic accomplishments; rather, it reflects a body of
knowledge that can originate from virtually any source. It is the manner by which people put this knowledge to use that truly defines their association with being educated.
Perception of knowledge influences perceptions of teaching and learning in many ways, not the least of which is cultural in nature. The very
nature of perception is that which we, as humans, have been trained to discern as a species, inasmuch as the certain quality of perception required for awareness is decidedly unique
to human beings. Man looks upon his world as a direct reflection of him, his values, beliefs, experiences, conditions and development; as such, his perception of knowledge is bases
wholly upon his cultural influences. Education is the key to freedom. As succinct as this statement may be, it holds within its
