adequately preparing teachers to use technology effectively in the classroom? That is an important question. Yet, one must also ask initially just what is the purpose of technology staff development
for teachers. Teachers require technological training in some form. They may get it on their own, but more likely than not, they will be exposed to training at their schools.
The reason why teachers should get on the technology bandwagon is because much of the business world, and much of the world in general, uses technology a lot more today
than they did years ago. Teachers should be Net savvy as the Internet has had a great impact on society, and it is all too often the case that librarians
and teachers are the last to develop a proficiency in this area. The likely reason is because in these professions, there is a reliance on books, and so their jobs
become somewhat entrenched in the past and schools in particular have not kept pace with the rest of the world. By educating teachers in technology, and how to implement it
in the classroom, children who graduate from schools will be better prepared for the world of work. Integrating technology in the classroom is vital so that children can grow
up prepared to use the latest in technology, something that is not the case today. A large part of the problem is that teachers do not feel competent to integrate
