first production. It is a story about a woman of less than wealthy means and less than refined upbringing that desires to better herself and her future through a higher
education. She is unlike many others in that she is a bit street wise, a bit crude, and yet she is intelligent and desires to learn. She meets resistance all
along the way. Her husband, family, and those in her same social class, even the professor at first, seem to do everything they can to make her stop this dream.

just had to write and tell you about this wonderful play I just watched. You know I have been working on getting my Bachelors degree in history and you know
that it has been hard. But, I also know that you think this is because I am not in my 20s anymore and you have constantly told me you think
my family supports me. Even you have claimed you support me. This play made me realize some truths that truly make seeking an education easier for me! You have to
see this play. It is about a woman, not that different from me because she is not from a rich family and she is from lower class, born to a
family that really does not see the importance of an education. But, she wants to be more in life. I know the play was written over 20 years ago when
women did not have the opportunities they do today, and I know that is what you would argue. But, her situation, how her family told her she should stay home
