this is a negative situation and they claim that young students are not capable of making these important life decisions. After all, a military career carries risk and it is feared that young people will be enticed into this dangerous lifestyle. On the other hand, the military is a branch of the U.S. government that needs new recruits. Almost everyone supports the military-even if they do not support the present war-- and it is thought that the military is a good start for many American teenagers. Many adolescents today have too much time on their hands and are bored. There is a drug epidemic and many teens complain about the lack of available work that has meaning. At their level, they can only work in the supermarket or similar situation, or go to college. While many other opportunities do exist, such as entrepreneurship, many young people are not apprised of such things until later in life. The military can provide meaningful work, a way of paying for college if they like, and a career opportunity that is stable and can be personally rewarding. The curriculum within which the proposed learning will reside will be a mandatory computer function class. This is a class given for one quarter of the school year where students learn how to work the computer, surf the Internet and so forth. Familiarity with computers is important for high school and college students. Schwartz (2005) writes: "Many schools proudly call themselves "Americas most wired"-a claim that often says more about their PR departments than their infrastructure.
