had a high IQ, and was interested in psychology, after becoming institutionalized. Edmund Kemper is only one of the many serial killers that have stalked the world for more than
a century. Edmund Kemper was known as the Co-Ed Killer. He personified the pattern as well as anyone.
A domineering mother purportedly traumatized Kemper. He shot his grandmother at the age of 14 "to see what it would feel like to kill" (Methvin, 1995). When
his grandfather came home, Kemper killed him so that he would not be upset over her murder. Kemper spent five years in Californias Atascadero State Hospital for the criminally
insane for those two murders. Kemper worked in the hospitals psychology laboratory as a crew leader and a clinical psychologist supervised him. Kemper had an IQ of 136.
He assimilated a lot of knowledge there. Although he had murdered his mothers parents, his mother got him paroled under her custody when he was 19 (Methvin, 1995).
Mrs. Kemper petitioned to have her sons juvenile murder record sealed. Due to this, he had to see a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist concluded,
"I see no psychiatrist reason to consider him a danger to himself or any other member of society" (Methvin, 1995). Kemper had a severed head stowed in the trunk of
his car at the time of that examination. Kemper committed six co-ed murders (1995). He slaughtered his own mother, and then invited her best friend to come over
