to create a horror film that is really considered to be predictable and concise. It is a film that utilizes much of what we know of horror movies and essentially
makes a joke of itself and of the horror genre, while still managing to offer a horror movie. It is perhaps a rarity in that it makes the audience laugh
and scream with surprise. Much of the success of the film is due to the editing techniques utilized in the film. In the following paper we examine some of the
scenes from "Scream," illustrating and analyzing the editing of the film. Editing in "Scream" As mentioned, the film "Scream" seems to take all other horror movies, taking their
stories and the structure of their stories, and combining them to create a movie that addresses the predictability of a horror flick. In this the student can gain a great
deal of insight and inspiration in the field of making horror movies. In "Scream" we see references to how horror movies work, how they are structured, and we see many
references to other horror movies, pointing out what works and what doesnt. And, when we look closely we also see subtle elements that seem to speak of the directors of
other horror films. For example, in many subtle ways there is the age old suspense that we often saw in Hitchcock films as subtle symbolic environments are presented. The camera
angles, with a sense of imbalance, offer us a unsteady feeling, such as was presented in many Hitchcock films, and the symbolic nature of such elements as windows and glass
seem to cry out for suspense. In short, the film, without going into specifics, truly offers the student an endless amount of material for examination in terms of serving as
