kilowatt hours. The days are broken down into a.m. and p.m., these are defined by the clock, a.m. covers the period from midnight until noon, and p.m. from noon until
midnight. The usage is divided into 5 categories, heating and lighting and cooking are self explanatory. Leisure includes all leisure activities, such as television and DVD players, stereo and computer
usage. The miscellaneous element covers all other uses, such as vacuuming as well as the charging of electrical equipment, including cellular telephones. A breakdown of the actual amounts is shown
in appendix 1 Figure 1; Two Days Energy Use In addition to the above energy there were other uses; transportation using public transport as well as facilities where there
were the use of energy, such and lighting and heating in public areas such as classrooms and shops. The main supplier fop energy is Con Edison1, the firm generates
and purchases wholesale a large amount of energy. The primary fuel is oil used to generate electricity, but this is being replaced gradually with other form, including wind power and
the setting up of solar energy, including 6 projects in 2011 which were completed offering a total of 28 megawatts, and five more due in 2012 (ConEdison, 2012). This information
was found out by looking at the firms web site and reading their annual report. Energy use could be change by behaviour changes; increased use of appliances, turning up
the heating, leaving windows open while the heating it on, using an oven or grill instead of a single ring saucepan would all increase energy use. Energy use may be
decreased by turning down the heating thermostat and wearing more warm clothing, installing insulation, changing incandescent light bulb to CFLs or for even lower energy use installing LEDS for lighting.
