For Starbucks, a firm that sounds product which is usually purchased with discretionary spending the likely to have a major impact on the way that demand emerges. Therefore, looking at
different potential scenarios can help with planning procedure. The first scenario is relatively optimistic; the current prediction for the global economy is
that of recovery. The governments and central banks around the world have undertaken monetary and fiscal is these aimed at stimulating demand in order to create positive cycles within the
global economy, strategies have included printing more money improve liquidity within the money markets, holding interest rates down to reduce expenditure to support the presence of disposable income as well
as increased spending in order to simulate demand for labor to produce more jobs which have a potential positive impact on the economy. The World Bank has estimated that the
real growth in GDP in 2010 3.3%, in 2011 3.2% followed by 3.5% in 2012 (World Bank, 2010). Starbucks this means there is
likely to be an increased level of demand, as a positive economy will see decreasing levels of unemployment and a greater disposable income, which will provide the scenario for increased
demand, as long as the company satisfying consumer demands in terms of product and marketing (Nellis Parker, 2006). With this scenario the company will need to plan to continue with
product development, ensure the marketing is reaching the target market and to try and attract new customers as well as increases sales to existing customers.
