This mass use of the Internet has had some limited effect on the printing industry, but the printing industry continues to adapt to the new technology. By adapting to
the new technology and working with the new technology in an integrated manner, the printing industry continues to prosper. BACKGROUND In 1455 Johannes Gutenberg invented movable type and the way
was paved for the mass production of printed materials in the form of magazines, newspapers and books (Marcuccio, 2000). In the years to come, printing shops and newspaper offices emerged
all through Europe and eventually developed in the new world. Despite the passage of centuries, the method of reproducing the printed word had changed very little. Automatic typesetting was
developed in 1886 with the invention of the Linotype machine (Marcuccio, 2000). Then after the Second World War, there were several important inventions which included the phototypesetting, which advanced
