many people in society who are not pleased with their monetary situations and watch others become rich, or spend money, while they suffer. They feel disconnected because of their inability
to make enough to support themselves. Some people blame the system and contend that it is capitalism that is the culprit and they are blameless. They just cannot make enough
money because of the wealthy business owners who are greedy and will not pay them enough. While there is certainly another side to that perspective, that is exactly how Karl
Marx viewed things. Indeed, capitalism is the problem and it is money at the heart of human suffering. In fact, the essence of Marxism is his theory of economic
determinism. Economic determinism, above all, embraces the concept that economic factors are integral to political and historical developments. Marxism rests on the notion that everything is intertwined with money
and that even when motivation or habit appear to be separate and apart from economic variables, underneath it all lies the money angle. The nature of man is generally self-serving.
However, economics is not the end all and be all of social life as it was for Marx and Engels, and many disagree with the premise just described. Some people
are very idealistic and believe that money is not important. They contend that the key to happiness is in spirituality, or in religion, or family or simply in ones vocation.
That money is at the root of all conflict it is nonsense to them. However, Marx based his theories on the premise that nothing could be further from the truth.
