the capacity of the earth to produce life may gravely inhibited, thus endangering the survival of future generations. As this suggests, this definition, while simple, also naturally encompasses a
broad spectrum of issues and related goals that must be addressed if the viability of the environment is to preserved for future generations. For example, this includes "keeping population densities
below the carrying capacity of a region," that is, keeping the number of human beings living within a specific region in keeping with what that region can support (Netherlands Inter.
Conf.). While population control seems logical and necessary to many people, it is political explosive topic because it encompasses issues having to do with human sexuality and perceived morality.
Environmental sustainability also includes developing renewable energy sources and implementing their use among the general population, as well as "conserving and establishing priorities for the use of non-renewable resources," as
well as "keeping (the) environmental impact" of human activity below the level that is necessary to allow the ecological system affected to recover and continue to evolve (Netherlands Inter. Conf.).
In other words, environmental sustainability encompasses the scope of human society as it has social, political and economic ramifications. Three reasons why human society is not achieving sustainability: In
