better than others? Totty (2001) looks at the phenomenon and did a survey to ask people where they shopped online and why. He found that most people shopped at well
known sites such as Ebay and Amazon.com (Totty, 2001). Why? To some extent, people choose sites by their features as well as the possibility of using alternate methods of payment
such as PayPal (Totty, 2001). Totty (2001) highlights a number of web site in the article, including EBay. He claims that Ebay has taken something as boring as online auctions
and created a phenomenon, and it is something that has come to middle America (Totty, 2001). It is also one of the few e-commerce success stories with muscle (Totty, 2001).
Ebay is used by many shoppers as an alternative way of shopping when looking for merchandise (Totty, 2001). Although this is an auction place, the author compares it to the
office equipment store or mall (Totty, 2001). Why has Ebay been so successful? There are several reasons, including the well managed web site. It is fast and well organized. There
is little confusion, even when an auction is occurring, and this means that the beginner is able to start buying or selling almost immediately after they sign up. That said,
there are brokers who will enter auctions on behalf of clients. Either way, Ebay has managed to launch businesses and create a marketplace for the average person. In
