Eastman Kodak is still the number one seller of photo imaging equipment and supplies, according to Hoovers, but every year, those sales are eroded by competition. Although the company can still claim 70 percent of the market, the company has a strong competitor, Fuji Photo Film in Japan, Canon and others (Chester, 2004). Eastman Kodaks board is already moving to streamline the company by making another 20 percent reduction in force. In reducing staff, the company is signaling the market that it plans to give up more of its photo imaging market and replace it with new technological markets, which can be operated as R&D with a reduced workforce. Additionally, the imaging and printing market is expected to continue to decelerate, and at a faster rate, according to Steven Miluvonich at Merrill Lynch. (Crum, 2004).
