several factors which help to stack the deck in the successful businesss favor. The following three companies exhibit many of those factors. One of the single-most successful companies in the
nation is Walmart. Not only does it have an impact globally, but has been instrumental in advocating a greener and cleaner environment by big businesses. Among many factors, Walmart exhibits
one of the success factors which is that they give back to the community and nation at large. Part of the way that Walmart is doing this is by setting
aside money or partial proceeds from various products to support various environmental charities around the nation. For example, their most recent charity is a portion of the money from
the sale of the new Lord of the Rings soundtrack, The Two Towers will be donated to the TreePeople foundation. TreePeople is a 30-year-old environmental education and advocacy organization. Its
mission is to inspire the people of Los Angeles to take personal responsibility for the urban forest(Scifi Wire 2003). However, Walmart is not the only large company in America
that is doing well and giving back to the community. Microsoft is easily another American success story, as is the older, but still wildly successful Coca-Cola company. Over the
past ten years all three of these companies have seen gains. The way that they fall in the rankings have Microsoft in the lead, by a comfortable margin, Walmart is
