is a subtle but pervasive stereotype, the student will wish to state in the construction of her own paper, that seems forever to haunt a certain segment of the population.
To be a woman with blonde hair and blue eyes is to be considered unintelligent and hyper-sexual, while those women who are brunette are considered geniuses by default. Neither is
fair to either woman, who, one has to assume would much rather they be judged on the merit of their ability than the fact that their hair color matches Loreal
hair dye color number 101. However, rather than start a blondes unite program, and provide yet more fodder for the countless blonde jokes that abound, most blonde women choose
to prove the stereotype wrong. What better revenge than to be the golden haired child of the company with smarts and looks? And, yet, to not begin to be a
part of the solution is to be a part of the problem. Reese Witherspoons Legally Blonde movies served to offer an alternative to the blonde stereotype, to an extent.
What was saddening about the movie was that in the beginning, and throughout the movie, the flaky personality that she portrayed was the stereotypical blonde personality that society continues to
support. What was nice about the movie was that Elle Woods was able to overcome that stereotype, rise above what society had expected from her, and become one of the
top law students at Harvard. Not only had Elle bought into the idea that she was blonde and therefore not capable of being more than just pretty, but she was
