person uses various forms of comparison or contrast in order to gain the most information on something, then having gained the information, make a decision. Critical thinking, then, plays a
significant role in the life of the average person and as such, it would follow that those people who make the best decisions and are successful are those who are
able to utilize critical thinking to the highest degree. The process of analysis begins with a simple grasp of the topic or subject. Starting from the whole picture, then the
person begins to break it down into its component parts, arguments, benefits and detriments. Based upon the results from this, then, a decision is reached. This is often called the
case study analysis and can be utilized in the business environment to greater efficiency and productivity. Academics, interpersonal skills, and technical experience all seem to push a persons critical thinking
skills into a sub-classification. However, it must be stated that in any profession, critical thinking must be placed in proper perspective as one of the most critical tools that a
manager has. In ones workplace, for example, suppose that the research and development department has come up with a process that will revolutionize the widget industry. However, funding is
tight. The manager now is faced with determining how to get from point A to point B and do so without much help or support from corporate. In ones own
workplace one could talk about the manager assessing the various strengths and weakness of the department as a whole and then consulting with various people on the basis of their
strengths to see if they can arrive at a conclusion about the lack of funding. This has moved the process from the whole, which was the lack of funding, to
