bodies of water which are associated with it is of major concern due to the adverse ecological effects created by the dense mats of vegetation which are formed by the
plants. The existence of these dense mats creates an unhealthy habit for the native plants. Healthy native plants actually contribute to a healthy ecology. Curbing the growth and persistence
of Eurasian watermilfoil is also discussed as it is easily transported not only by seeds, but also by fragments of the plant itself which can be attached to boats, boat
trailers and/or fishing equipment. Various studies have been conducted and observations made concerning the apparent natural decline of the existence of the plant in the northern portions of the
United States. It is felt that a combination of factors can contribute to the decline of the populace of Eurasian watermilfoil. These combinations of factors are also discussed.
It is suggested that continued observation and research be conducted to determine how best to curb the infestation of Eurasian watermilfoil. INTRODUCTION Since the known introduction of Eurasian watermilfoil
in the 1940s the plant has been transported to many bodies of water from the northeastern United States to the northwestern United States. Eurasian watermilfoil is now prevalent in nearly
all of the bodies of water within the state of Washington. Preliminary research and studies suggest that a combination of factors could be utilized to minimize the existence of
the plant and thus lessen its effect on the ecological systems of the Northwest. There is hope that continued investigation and study will lead to an effective method to control
the spread of Eurasian watermilfoil and to lessen the effects of the already existing plants on the ecological watersheds especially those along the Okanogan River. Problem Statement/Background Once commonly
