of Ethiopia). It is also the second largest country in Africa, almost twice the size of Texas (A glance of Ethiopia). However, Ethiopia
has also been a country filled with conflict, disagreement, and wars (Ethiopia, 2010). The population consists of 85 million people, and much of the population is threatened by the ravages
of AIDS (Ethiopia, 2010). There is no unemployment rate, however, approximately 39% of the population exists below the poverty line (Ethiopia, 2010). The inflation rate is 11%, and the main
industries are agriculture and food processing (Ethiopia, 2010). Most Ethiopians are farmers, with agriculture both a way of life and the primary
source of income for the people of this nation (A glance of Ethiopia). The agricultural sector has frequent drought and poor cultivation practices,
which presents problems when it comes to crop development (Ethiopia, 2010). Thanks to the Ethiopian Constitution, the state owns all the land, while providing long-term leases to tenants (Ethiopia, 2010).
Because of this system, entrepreneurs cannot use land as collateral for loans, and the industrial sector cant grow (Ethiopia, 2010). The recent global economic downturn has led to balance of
payment pressures, though these have been partially alleviated by emergency funding from the IMF (Ethiopia, 2010). It should probably come as no
