objectives on a piece of paper and telling people in the organization that this is where the organization needs to be. An important aspect of strategic planning involves following the
right course of ethics in that stakeholders needs need to be considered. The problem with many strategic plans is that they dont
take into account aspects such as employee or community involvement. For example, its great to have a strategic plan stating that the goal is to gain 5% of the market
share over the next year - but is that plan realistic, especially with the employees who might be on staff? We are
reminded that an organization isnt an entity that functions in a vacuum - rather, it exists in society (Social responsibilities, ethics, and strategic planning). As such, while it may have
specific goals (such as making money for owners), an organization also has a social responsibility when it comes to its duties and conduct (Social responsibilities, ethics, and strategic planning). The
idea of ethics and corporate social responsibility as it pertains to strategic planning focuses more on the impact of certain plans and decisions, rather than building "do-gooder" activities into the
plan itself. Benham and Rasche (2009) remind us that the processes of strategizing and ethical reflection should be intertwined, but often are
