its independence Sunburst Hotels had been part of a company that had been using ERP so there has been a system in use in the past. With the independence there
is no IT infrastructure at all so this needed to be put into place whatever choices are made. In determining what system is needed the ERP system that is being
considered is one where there would be a minimal learning curve as it has already been used. By looking at the type of company that is being managed the
need for a system, that can deal with a complex business and many different needs should be put in place, Sunburst Hotels have a total of 87 hotels across 27,
these are also more than one brand name, with Comfort Inns and Econolodges. The business is one where there are high overheads and there needs to be a careful
control of costs and the information that is used by one department needs to be accessible and shared by a number of applications. An ERP system will provide the functionality
that is needed as well as allowing the company to use the systems they ad been used to when part of choice making the transition to an independent company less
dramatic with the use fo familiar systems. As a new company there is also the need for costs and performance to be carefully managed, and as such this is
