Where there is a merger between a US and a Scottish company there are some obvious advantages in implementing ERP as this is a system designed to integrate the
different parts of the companies and their systems in order to create a single system that can be used to access the different software sources that can include all of
the companys departments from finance to human resources (Kremers and Van Dissel, 2000, Amaoko-Gyampah and White, 1997). The value of the system
when it is created, is not as a result of the product itself, like any tool the value is the way it is used. If used efficiently there is little
doubt it can add value (Kremers and Van Dissel, 2000). In many cases the adoption of an ERP system is not for ideological reasons where there is the aim for
increased efficiency and better practice (Kremers and Van Dissel, 2000). In this case there is the merger so the systems need to be brought together, but there are dangers.
There are issues in terms of currencies the systems need to be able to allow for this, in the US there are dollars and
in the UK there is sterling, Dealing with this for the individual customers simply a matter of setting the currency, however with a multinational company there are issues in how
to determine the value of transactions, as the parent company is the US company this will mean sterling will need to be converted into dollars for the accountings purposes. This
may be best achieved at the point of the transaction, but it is also possible to time transactions in order to maximise benefit, in addition to this is tools such
